Junell’s political career was marked by seven terms in the Texas House of Representatives, where he served as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. His tenure was driven by a genuine desire to serve West Texas, always putting the needs of his constituents above partisanship.

After his legislative service, he was appointed as a federal district court judge for the Western District of Texas, based in Midland. Robert A. Junell passed away from natural causes at the age of 78. He will be remembered for his leadership, generosity, and lifelong dedication to justice and community.
