Tributes are pouring in for Chloe Hipson, a 21-year-old from Lanarkshire, Scotland, who was among the five young people killed in a devastating car crash in Ireland over the weekend. The fatal collision occurred just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, when a Volkswagen Golf carrying six people struck a Toyota Land Cruiser on a rural road near Dundalk.

The victims have been identified as Chloe Hipson, 21, Chloe McGee, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, Alan McCluskey, 23, and Dylan Commins, 23. A sixth occupant of the Golf, also a man in his 20s, survived and is being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Gardaí believe the group was traveling to Dundalk for a night out when the tragedy occurred.
In the wake of the collision, heartfelt tributes have emerged for Hipson, described by those who knew her as a “beautiful soul.” Chloe, who was from Bellshill, is being remembered not only by friends and family but also by the wider community back home in Scotland.
North Motherwell FC, where her older brother, Ryan Hipson, is a longtime player, expressed deep sorrow in a statement shared on social media. The club announced it will hold a minute’s silence in her honor.
“North Motherwell Football Club are devastated to hear the tragic news of the untimely passing of Chloe Hipson,” the statement read. “Chloe is the little sister to one of our veteran players, Ryan Hipson. Ryan, you and your family have always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at NMFC and are very much still part of the football family.”
The club went on to extend condolences to the Hipson family:
“I am sure everyone will join me in sending our deepest condolences to you, Toni, Ryan, wee Tommy and all your family at this life-shattering time. As a mark of respect, NMFC will host a one-minute silence in memory of Chloe and to show our support for the Hipson family. Rest in peace, Chloe Hipson.”
Investigations into the cause of the crash remain ongoing as communities in both Ireland and Scotland grapple with the sudden loss of five young lives.
