The Albemarle High School community is grieving the death of Savion Henderson, a beloved student-athlete who died in a car accident on November 15, 2025. His passing has left classmates, teachers, and mentors devastated, as tributes continue to pour in from across the school and the larger Albemarle community.

The popular Instagram page ATown Animals, known for celebrating Albemarle High School spirit, paid a heartfelt tribute to Savion shortly after his death was confirmed.
“With heavy hearts we dedicate this post to Savion Henderson, who tragically passed away on 11/15/2025,” the post read. “Savion was a true Albemarle Patriot. He brought energy and humor everywhere he went—whether it was on the football field, at YoungLife, or in the halls. You were truly lucky to be able to call him a friend.”
The tribute continued, describing Savion as someone whose kindness, leadership, and passion touched the lives of everyone around him:
“As a community, we will lean on one another and honor him by spreading the same kindness he showed us. Savion, you will always and forever be able to call yourself an ATown Animal. School Division Confirms Student’s Death
In an email to families on Sunday, Albemarle County Public Schools Superintendent Matthew Haas shared the heartbreaking news with the school community.
“It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to you today,” Haas wrote. “Over the weekend, we learned that one of our Albemarle High School students tragically lost their life in a car accident.”
Haas acknowledged the profound grief felt by students and staff, noting:
“There is no doubt that our student body and staff may struggle learning of the loss of a fellow student, classmate, and friend, Savion Henderson, but please know that we are here to support you in any way we can.”
The superintendent added that grief counselors would be made available at Albemarle High School, and counselors throughout the division had been notified to support anyone experiencing trauma, sadness, or confusion in the days ahead.
