A 24-year-old man has been taken into custody on a first-degree murder charge following the discovery of his roommate’s body inside a cardboard box located behind a bus stop in South Austin last week, as reported by the police.

Aidan Hunt was apprehended on Sunday morning by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in the 3900 block of Lamar Boulevard without any incidents, according to the Austin Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at 4107 Victory Drive at approximately 5:22 p.m. on November 13. They found Robert Wentworth, 63, exhibiting signs of trauma inside a large cardboard box behind a bus stop. He was declared dead at the scene at 5:53 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists conducted a thorough examination of the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation indicated that Wentworth had been cohabitating with Hunt, who lived just a few hundred yards from the location where the victim was discovered, according to police. Officers executed a search warrant at Hunt’s residence and uncovered evidence pertinent to the murder, as stated by the Austin Police Department.

As per online records, Hunt is currently held in the Travis County Jail with a bond set at $100,000.

This incident marks the 49th homicide in Austin for the year 2025.
