Max Mastromichalis Identified as Missing Charleston, WV Teen Found Dead in Kanawha River

The body of a missing Charleston teenager has been recovered from the Kanawha River, authorities confirmed Saturday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Max Mastromichalis, who had been reported missing earlier in the day after his vehicle was discovered parked along Kanawha Boulevard near the riverfront.

Search and rescue crews from the Charleston Police Department and Charleston Fire Department responded to the scene, deploying divers into the water to search the area. After several hours of searching, Mastromichalis was located in the river and pronounced dead at the scene.
